Question:
What are the symptoms of lupus? Please help me learn about this!
Answer:
go to especially
numbers 2 & 3.
Also check out the LFA's site www.lupus.org There is a ton of info
on the web in terms of lupus symptoms. They are many and varied from
one person to another. There are a list of 11 "symptoms" (actually
categories of symptoms in some cases) that are used in the US to help
diagnose lupus. However, there are many symptoms that are not
diagnostic but common among lupus patients. Some of these are listed
at the LFA site, some more can be found on my web site as part of my
"Unscientific Survey".
the most notable symptoms are unusual rashes, fatigue (putting it
lightly!), joint pain, persistent low-grade or high-grade fevers,
inflammation of joints, trouble with short-term memory, weight loss.
Other symptoms generally requiring lab tests are low white blood cell
counts, presence of certain antibodies, kidney damage, pleurisy,
pericarditis.
check out my pages (see URL in sig) for more links and the FAQ for
this group to get further information. The most accurate sources of
information will be the various lupus organizations around the world
(but I think Western Europe and US really have some of the most
reliable info.)
