Question:
I was wondering if anyone here has had this experience I have of losing tons of
weight while under stress. I recently dropped from 179 to 176 in one day
because of stress, hovered around 176 and am now up to 178 even though I've
increased my caloric rate to about 2200 per day (up from 1600/day).
This has happened many times to me, where I get stressed out and the pounds fly
off at an unhealthy rate. One time I lost over 20lbs in one month while eating
over 3000 calories per day.
The "problem" is that even though you look good and slender, it's so horrible
to have this level of stress that there is no way to enjoy your low weight and
I actually look forward to the stress being gone, my metabolism slowing back
down again so that I'm not in so much emotional pain. The cons are greater than
the pros.
Anyone else had this?
Answer:
I have, esp. lately. I have gone way off my WOE (having four scripts
due ion one week will do that) and my weight hasn't changed and yet my
clothes are way loose.
This sounds like fluctuations in water weight. i posted a message
recently about weighing in under various conditions eight or nine times
in one day and getting variations of up to four pounds which stabilized
the following morning.
Stress Sucks!!! I notoriously lose weight under stress-except lately.
Often I would lose dramatic amounts of weight without even realizing it. I
just wouldn't eat, and the nervous energy speeds up the metabolism I think.
This holiday season has been particularly hard on me, and I am looking
forward to getting past it and starting a fresh new year.
Stress and I have a very similar relationship to those already mentioned. I
guess it is fairly normal considering. A friend of mine is heavily stressed
out right now and is still losing weight too.
We all know it's not good for the body/mind/soul/spirit but that's another
rant for another time.
