Question:
most stress scales don't include having to get up from
you computer to open another pint of Guinness to be stressful
Answer:
While I agree, Eliz, I do think it important for folks to realize that
even good events in life can cause stress.
We all recognize that headache or tummy ache or restless night when
linked to a negative stress...such as illness or death or divorce.
What many fail to see, however, is that those same physical oddities
can occur even during or after a good event, like a promotion or
marriage. The body still perceives the change as a stressor.
But, like you said....it is *how we deal with the stressor, after we
recognize it as such, that can make all the difference.
That's true. It's a tough life, man... and I'm sloggin' me way through it the
best I can. I'm a friggin' *hero*, dontcha know.
On the serious side though, it doesn't include things like collection agents
breathing down my neck... among other things.
Still, I'm doin' OK... and my legs are already feeling a little better too.
Another couple of days' rest and I should be in pretty good shape again.
Truth, is that I have lived through so many of the things on the
Stress Scale and survived them, and although the stress quotient was very
high during those (earlier) times, the biggest stress factor I have had in
the past month has been a visit from one of my high school students of 45
years ago. I was really "up" for that, and still get a little rush just
thinking about it. heeheehee No, imagine. Have **you gone half way across
the country to visit a teacher you had for one year? Thought not.
Oh yes. From day one this felt more like home than any place with
Colin. I'm doing fine. Just stress out a bit when Colin comes over -
as he has to in order to keep the business going. Otherwise it's great
to be civilised again.
I'm getting some business and legal advice this week. Fingers crossed I
find a good solution to the situation.
