Stress Measurement?

Question:

Long long ago someone told me about a small sheet of "paper" wich could give a measure of the stress applied over it. Do you know anything about it? Where to buy?

Answer:
Pressure and stress although different concepts, have same units. Following link has information on pressure sensitive film that may be of interest to you: http://www.sensorprod.com/pressureex. You don't mean a strain gauge? When you know the material characteristics this can give you the stress in the material.

I have seen a film that changes color based on the amount of stress applied.

I have seen this advertised in Machine Design. By visiting their website at http://www.machinedesign.com then clicking on "Find a Supplier" and searching for "stress indicator" I get an acceptable number of hits... I used it sometime back but cannot recall the exact name. It starts with Fuji. You could do a search.

In their advertisements one of the applications was to measure the compression force of the rubber seals on automotive doors.
