Question:
Homemade Stress Balls ?
Answer:
Thought I would share with you a recipe for stress balls. I learned how to
make these in university, and are inexpensive compared to the ones you find
in stores!
You'll need:
A round, uninflated balloon
Sand, barley, humus, or other grains
Scissors
An extra pair of (strong) hands
A funnel
Using the funnel fill a balloon with the sand, etc. until you have a ball
about the size of an orange (pack it a bit...the balloon will stretch over
time with use). Tie a knot close to the sand (I twist it so that I don't
get a hard knob on the ball), then take the open part of the balloon and
stretch it back over the filled part (You have to turn it inside out...Kind
of like folding socks or rolling up a pant leg) Then carefully snip of the
rim. Voila, le stress ball!
Make sure that whatever you put inside the stressball is dry...If you use
rice, be careful...Sharp edges+thin plastic=rice all over the carpet....
They were recommended to me for finger strengthening exercises by and OT as
well as RD.
try using plain old white flour. It's very cheap and has a different
feel to it. It's really strange feeling. I also use 2 balloons, one inside
the other, for extra protection. Don't want them to break and send flour all
over the place when you mash them around.
