Question:
I have been asked to work with a person with Multiple sclerosis (MS), and
would like to know if anyone has worked with similar clients. If so, what
were the client's desired outcomes, what methods did you use, and any
other advice you might want to offer.
Answer:
if you don't believe that you're better qualified than the client
to decide on what outcomes they should acheive, then how on earth can
you believe that you're better qualified than them to change their
behaviour?
Are you saying that you routinely select the outcome the client is
seeking? I might assist them in defining a range of possibilities (
perhaps expanding their range) but IMHO it is ultimately their choice.
That has somewhat less to do with my ability to assist them in changing
their behavior.
My awareness of this disease/nominalization is growing since my last post.
Since Multiple Sclerosis is thought to be an autoimmune type of pathology,
I feel quite comfortable going for more than short term symptom relief. I
repeat, has anyone else worked with MS clients?
I worked with an MS client. I did Robert McDonald's wise sage
procedure where you tap unconscious knowledge by having a trance
conversation with an older wiser you. The client reported being less
fearful about the disease process and much to our mutual surprise,
that incontinence had abated.
I have no idea how this process might work with another MS client.
Just that in this instance this procedure was effective.
