Question:
Is there anyone here who has outbreaks caused by stress ?
I have a terrible time every time I get stressed out.
Things tend to bother me and stay on my mind, I get a feeling in my
stomach - and then I know Im in trouble.
Ive tried valerian with some success. KAva kava helps a bit, but when
it really hits, there is not much I can do to prevent an outbreak.
Is there anything out there to help with a serious stress issue ?
Anyone in the same position I am ?
Answer:
I used to have outbreaks everytime I got stressed out. Which, is a lot.
:-) All I can really suggest is that you try some relaxation techniques.
You know, breathing exercises, etc.
What worked for me is the knowledge that I have done everything I can
possibly do to make the situation better. As long as I am happy with my
performance, then I reduce that part of the stress. Which is the stress I
put on myself. The stress of working in a stupid place is another kind of
stress. I usually quit the job. Sometimes I feel that I'm a quitter. But
then I remember that my health is so much more important. I used to work a
full time job but the stress got to be so much that I was sick all the time.
I finally quit and it took about 6 months to get myself on the right health
track again.
How about meditation, deep breathing exercises, taichi, yoga, just to
name a few?
Have you eliminated any other reason for having outbreaks? Like less than
ideal diet, lack of exercise, lack of enough sleep, etc? If so, then is it
impossible to get rid of some of the stress? Or maybe, learning how to more
effectively deal with stress would help--so possibly take a class or read some
books addressing that aspect.
Have you tried suppressive prescription antivirals? They can do wonders until
you're able to handle stress better, or better yet, get rid of it on a regular
basis. Check that out with your doc--the meds were invented to reduce the
frequency and/or severity of our outbreaks, so why not use them for this?
