Question:
Does anyone know of a good program for analyzing beam stresses?
Some company must make a program that has a menu of loading conditions
to choose from. I'd like to type in the material properties and beam
dimensions, then have a graphical display of the results. Needs to run
on NT 4.0 .
Answer:
Try Sector Systems at http://www.marblehead.com/business/034/mech.htm
They have a few packages on beam design and since they're public
domain, you can try all they have without spending many $.
IMHO, the Roark 'Formulas for Stress and Strain' CD with MathCAD ought to
be in the toolbox of anybody doing general mechanical design analysis.
Roark itself is light on graphical output, but MathCAD helps. It's
practical to do simple beam structures (10-20 nodes?) on MathCAD too.
I tried connecting with this site and could not get any information past
page 1. Has anyone else had this problem? Does it require a browser more
current than Netscape 3? I looks like an interesting site.
